About the Third Extraordinary Reporting and Election Congress of LABOR
The third extraordinary reporting and election congress was held on March 2, 2025.
The congress was attended by the majority of delegates. As a result of its decisions, the composition of the Labor Board and the Audit Commission was changed. The board now consists of five members. From among them, the congress elected Giorgi Diasamidze as chairman for the remaining term until the 2026 elections, and Tamar Ansiani as deputy chair. The board includes representatives from various primary organizations within Labor, ensuring, as much as possible, gender and age balance.

A new statute was approved, modifying the number of board and audit commission members. In addition to defining members’ rights and responsibilities, mutual obligations were also clarified.
Representatives of friendly organizations and like-minded groups in Georgia were invited to the congress. Emphasis was placed on signing a memorandum for future cooperation, uniting around a common idea, and defining the principles of collaboration. The primary goal of this alliance is to respond adequately to existing challenges in the field with enhanced resources and to fight collectively for democracy in the country. Several organizations expressed their willingness to cooperate in this format.

One of the agenda items of the congress addressed the violent actions of the chairman and deputy chairs of GTUC (Georgian Trade Unions Confederation) and their unlawful attempts to expel Labor from the union in order to retain power. This situation followed Labor chairman Giorgi Diasamidze’s announcement of his candidacy for the highest position in the Georgian Trade Unions Confederation in the fall 2025 elections. Labor’s board was instructed to take legal steps in response to the unlawful actions of the GTUC chairman and his deputies.

Additionally, as of February 17, 2025, and continuing to this day, GTUC Deputy Chairman Lavrenti Alania, acting on behalf of Irakli Petriashvili, has submitted three different statements at different times, as the Public Registry has been rejecting their attempts to unlawfully expel Labor due to statutory violations. Nevertheless, they continue attempting to register the decision through falsified protocols.
The congress also outlined the future strategy and methods of struggle. A women’s and youth committee was established. Notably, Labor is the organization with the highest number of young members among similar organizations in Georgia, with an average member age below 35.

Additionally, Labor’s official email address has changed to info@labor.ge, and its office has been relocated. Previously, the office was located in the Georgian Trade Unions Confederation building. However, due to the hostile environment, some members refused to visit, citing safety concerns stemming from an attack orchestrated by the GTUC deputy chairman against Labor members. The increasing office rent and unsanitary conditions, which hindered significant meetings, also contributed to the decision to relocate.
