LABOR Wins Legal Battle Against Casino BET25

Members of ლაბორ • LABOR Defeated the Casino BET25 at the court of appeals.

Plaintiffs: Z.A., M.N., and N.A. were employed by LLC Daydream Universal Georgia, which previously operated in the market under the name Casino BETLIVE and is now known as Casino BET25.

On June 30, 2023, the plaintiffs founded the primary trade union organization “Bet-Union” and joined Labor. Together with Labor, they began social media campaigns aimed at improving employees’ working conditions, recruiting new members, and strengthening their bargaining power with the employer. In September-October 2023, collective labor dispute mediation took place based on the union’s request, but it ended without agreement as the employer refused to negotiate with the union, labeling it a “third party.” Mediation expired on October 6, 2023, and on October 10, the plaintiffs were informed that their contracts were not renewed due to expiration.

The plaintiffs had been working for years under continuously renewed short-term contracts. However, the expiration of their contracts only became a “reason” for termination after they joined the union and participated in mediation. During the same period, the employer also imposed disciplinary sanctions on them.

On October 18, 2024, Tbilisi City Court ruled that the dismissal of Z.A., M.N., and N.A. was unlawful. The employer was ordered to compensate each plaintiff with a monthly payment of 1,088.48 GEL for lost wages, cover legal expenses, and pay an additional compensation of 2,000 GEL each instead of reinstatement. The employer appealed the decision.

On January 24, 2025, the appellate court upheld the lower court’s ruling. As of today, the employer owes a total of 54,981 GEL, an amount that will continue to increase until the judgment is enforced.

The plaintiffs were represented by Labor’s lawyer, Tamila Gabaidze .

This case once again highlights how employers systematically fight against unions and their members using similar tactics everywhere—but ultimately, they lose in court.
