The Chairman of Labor Addresses the Police and the Personal Data Protection Service Over the Illegal Acquisition and Distribution of Personal Information.

The public is aware that since July 12, 2024, a strike has been taking place at LLC Evolution Georgia, organized by the Labor Union.
On November 23, 2024, one of the active participants of the strike contacted the Chairman of Labor, Giorgi Diasamidze, expressing a desire to talk. On November 24, at the strike site, two active participants met with the chairman. During the meeting, one of them voiced dissatisfaction with Giorgi Diasamidze, questioning why the strike had lasted so long. This individual claimed to speak on behalf of other striking workers and accused Diasamidze of prolonging the strike for his own benefit, suggesting that he was using it as a comfort zone and gaining financial profit from it.
During this conversation, one of the meeting participants informed Giorgi Diasamidze that, on his own initiative, he had contacted a family acquaintance who holds a high-ranking position in the State Security Service (SUS). According to this acquaintance, Diasamidze had committed a crime, and they were shown a photo of him taken while he was in a detention facility. Diasamidze explained to the striker that the photo was taken in 2017 during a railway strike when he had been administratively detained for disobeying police orders. However, it later became evident that information about Giorgi Diasamidze’s criminal record, along with his photo, had already been disseminated among other striking workers. This was revealed in the communication chat of the strikers. The disclosure of this information damaged Diasamidze’s reputation and trust among the strikers.

Additionally, Giorgi Diasamidze asked the striker who had obtained and distributed his criminal record and photo about the source of this information, but the person refused to answer. On the same day, after the November 24 meeting, the striker also sent the photo to Giorgi Diasamidze via Messenger.
Criminal record information is classified as a special category of personal data and is accessible only to law enforcement agencies. Therefore, the striker could not have legally obtained this information independently. Due to the illegal acquisition and transfer of personal information through abuse of official authority, the Chairman of Labor has already filed a complaint with the investigative authorities. Furthermore, he has reported the individual who unlawfully disseminated this information among other strikers to the Personal Data Protection Service.
